Generate and apply suggestions

Expand Translation assistance in the sidebar, then choose its Translation assistance child for the selected branch. The parent only opens or closes the group; Translation providers opens workspace connection settings. Owners and Admins can manage workspace jobs by opening their branch; Editors see and manage their own jobs. Jobs stay attached to their original workspace, project and branch when the header selection changes.

For several keys, select them and choose Translate missing. The branch screen also supports a filter across all matching keys, including later table pages.

For one Missing cell, choose the sparkle icon beside Missing. Hover or focus shows Suggest translation; touch and keyboard also work. No icon is shown when the key has no saved values in active languages. Archived content and inactive targets remain read-only.

The inline editor stays in the translation table:

  1. Select an enabled Provider connection and a Source language with a saved value. The project source language is initially selected only when it qualifies. More source languages includes sources beyond the visible table columns. No source fallback is substituted.
  2. A free preview captures this cell’s source and versions. Check the displayed source, provider/model, usage upper bound and remaining UTC limits. Changing the provider, source or context categories cancels the previous free preview. Open Provider context to inspect and remove individual entries before Generate.
  3. Choose Generate to approve sending this scope to the provider and charging your provider account. The quick flow has no additional approval checkbox. The cell shows the actual queued/generating state.
  4. Review or edit Suggested value · not saved, then choose Apply. The target remains Missing until Apply succeeds. Cancel closes review without changing the translation.

Only one cell editor opens at a time. Unsaved edits warn before changing cells, filters, pages or header selection. Cancel generation stops new calls; an already sent call may still finish and incur a charge. Close leaves a running job available in the branch job list. Reloading or reopening never starts another paid call automatically. If preview cancellation cannot reach the service, the durable preview remains in that list until cancelled or expired.

A failed save keeps the draft. Source/key/target changes stop Apply and show current content; changed source text requires a new preview and generation approval. Outcome unknown never triggers an automatic paid retry. A retry requires explicit additional-charge approval. The full job remains accessible through View job or the sidebar.

Select an enabled connection, an active source language and active target languages. The project source language is the initial choice, but each job can choose another active language. Source and target must differ.

Available filters are key/text search, explicit keys, include/exclude tags and a date range. Include matches any selected tag; exclude takes precedence. Dates use From (inclusive) and Until (exclusive) with the displayed time zone:

  • Key created in this branch uses the current branch key record’s creation time.
  • Source text changed uses visible content history. Forking alone is not a source edit. Historical dates that cannot be proven are counted as Unknown date and excluded from a date range.

Only Missing targets qualify. Filled targets are preserved. A Missing source is skipped; source fallback is never substituted. Archived workspaces, projects, branches or keys and inactive languages cannot be translated.

Review scope captures the exact source text, key definition and cell versions. The screen reports target cells, already translated cells, missing sources, unknown dates, incompatibilities and a conservative usage upper bound. Later matches do not enlarge this job.

Check the remaining UTC usage limits. Resolve incompatible selections by choosing another provider or creating a preview excluding those keys. Confirm that the selected text may be sent to the provider and that your account pays for usage, then choose Generate suggestions.

Generation runs in a separate worker. You can leave, reload and reopen the job from Jobs in this branch. No release or publication is created.

Text context for preview includes the key description, applicable source/target file notes, matching glossary terms and compatible memory examples by default. Disable a category before creating the preview to exclude it. Google Basic v2 does not support extra context; its controls are disabled. OpenAI/Gemini receive structured context beside each message. DeepL receives it in its separate context field, never prepended to the source text.

Open Provider context beside each source to read the exact frozen content. Uncheck any entry to remove it. Selection changes save immediately, increment the preview version and recalculate its usage estimate; they never make a provider call. A failed selection save keeps the last confirmed selection. Bulk cost approval must be given again after changing context. Images, discussions, notifications and user history are not included in this text flow.

Context follows the current project resource links. Only the source/target glossary languages and compatible memory language pair are sent. Provider requests exclude internal resource IDs, resource names and customer identities. Untrusted context cannot change the Missing-only or explicit Apply rules. The preview lasts 24 hours. Generate, each worker call and Apply recheck selected resource versions, links and review evidence; changed or revoked context requires a fresh preview and new generation approval.

There is no silent context truncation. A cell may capture at most 25 matching glossary entries and 25 memory examples, with a 1 MB frozen-context bound inside the job’s 100 MiB budget. If capture exceeds a bound, refine the linked resources, narrow the selection or disable a category. The selected source/context request data must fit within 28,000 UTF-8 bytes per cell; remove individual entries in the preview if Generate reports that limit. Images are a separate pending capability and are not submitted by these controls.

Review the source and each proposal. Schema and ICU checks cannot prove linguistic accuracy. Edit suggestion opens an inline field with Save / Cancel. Failed saves retain the draft. Unsaved drafts warn before navigation.

Invalid provider output is not a successful translation. A partial job can contain both validated proposals and failed cells. Outcome unknown means a request might have completed and been charged, but Localisync cannot prove the result. Read the usage and retry rules before retrying.

Select individual validated proposals or Select all validated suggestions across every page, optionally unchecking exceptions. Then choose Apply selected suggestions.

The selected set is tied to the displayed job revision. Localisync checks current membership, branch/key/language status, key definition, source version, target version and that the target is still Missing. One conflict stops all selected changes with 409. Current source/target content remains visible alongside the proposal; a changed source requires a new preview and generation approval.

Successful Apply records the values, approver, provider/model provenance, content history and audit event in one transaction. Retrying the same idempotent Apply does not create another value/history event. Proposals left unselected remain separate. Publication remains an explicit release workflow.

Cancel new calls prevents further generation. An in-flight call may still finish and incur cost; valid proposals already received can be reviewed until expiry. Pending jobs and calls must finish or be cancelled before deleting their branch.

OpenAI and Gemini previews include ready key images as unselected choices. Inspect the image, explicitly select it and review the updated usage estimate before Generate. Other providers do not accept images. See private context images for frozen revisions, quotas and request bounds.
